why?

I was so embarrassed today. In England we have health visitors that deal with your child's health and wellbeing from 10 days old onwards. They will weigh your baby at clinic and you go to them for advice on feeding , immunisations etc. As we have moved into a different borough now the health visitor arranged a home visit with me to check Lily was doing ok and introduce their service. I ,of course, forgot and at 10 am this morning I was unwashed , had not brushed my teeth yet. wearing black trackie bottoms which were too short and Kristian's brown puma sweatshirt and my slippers. Oh the shame when I realised that it was her, Heather, who was coming to check on my child. There I sat , said child's main caregiver, looking like a tramp. Thank god I had dressed Lily already but then got involved in putting washing on and cleaning up before I could do the same. She was lovely though and put my mind at rest about toilet training. It seems that although Lily is physically ready to toilet train mentally shes a stubborn cookie and will not even try. I have just left it for now until the weather gets warmer and then I will have to introduce a potty downstairs as we have no downstairs loo and a reward chart of sorts. This will probably include large quantities of jelly worms and choccie buttons being given out.

The most important thing I learned today was this. get up and then immediately shower and dress.no lazing in my pjs. as much as its all I want to do.

Aren't you lucky that someone cares about you, your baby, your well-being and toilet-training. Who cares what your outfit of choice was at that moment in time. Anyone with at least two braincells could see that you are a great mum!

Oh I dread a surprise visitor - especially under such circumstances!
So glad it all turned out well!

Oh this is funny! I am sure you are not the first 'unwashed' mom in slippers she has encountered though!
It is such Murphey's law. Whenever I have decided to have a lazy day without makeup and dress very casually, while popping in to grab a few groceries very quickly, or drop a video off, you can be sure I bump into someone I know! Usually it is an ex-student or someone who used to respect me! Goodness knows what they think as they are always too polite to say anything - lolxxx

Oh, that's funny!! Heeheeeheee - glad it all went OK anyway and yes, generally best to get out of bed and get organised ASAP. Potty training isn't an issue and when Lily's ready it'll go so quickly and easily. I agree though, wait until the sun's out!

Hiya
Surprise visits can be a bit embarassing and I'm sure health visitors have seen a lot worse. Hope you are all well. And yes wait til the summer, potty training is much easier and they can run around without nappies on so their clothes don't get wet with accidents.
Love Nicola

Oh Wendy this really made me laugh. I take it that Lily had not dressed herself then as that would have been even funnier. I wish I had been "two flies in the bush"...lol. Mum xxx
