the country

2 Sunday's ago the sky looked like this. there was a big , bright yellow thing in it emitting rays of warmth. I just took a photo of it in case it disappears for , like, 6 months again. We decided to go to a farm " in the country". there are city farms around London but as much as I love cities, when it comes to farms, I like the country. This farm is not far from us as we live in greater London. 25 minutes tops. However as we drove so the roads became lanes and there was much stopping and pulling in to those little thingys on the side and letting others pass. I could hear Kristian's breathing growing shallow the deeper we went. He's a city boy. As we entered the village of Downe my head was filled with images of me living in a wisteria covered cottage , growing fruit and vegetables and herbs and inviting Jamie Oliver round from next door. I could help organise a village fete! Whilst on the other side of the car there was a lot of this " why cant they just make it 2 lanes for "*&&*** sake, why do we have to kill ourselves driving here. bloody land rover " blah blah blah. and so it went on until we got there , parked with major difficulty and finally made our way up to xmas tree farm. Its a gorgeous little farm with a lovely area to have a drink and bite to eat out in the open. You can then wander about the animals there with buckets of feed which you can buy for 50p and feed all the animals. They are so tame and take the food so gently. City boy was a little alarmed that we were required to feed the animals wit our hands but he did very well putting on a brave face for his daughter. The cow was perhaps a step too far though. haha.
Lily had a great time and was eventually feeding the kids that were roaming about at the front as well as some ducklings she found.
We headed back to our urban home later that afternoon feeling all healthy and wholesome. Kristian's colour finally returned as he saw the streets turn to motorways and we have vowed to return soon.

Thanks for the giggle, sounds like you had a lovely day and have educated your husband well into country life! I love the photo of him standing 10ft away from the cow, with his finger extended in warning. hahaha. Glad Lily had fun too!

LOL! Great description of the mysterious and elusive sun - not to mention "city boy"!
Thanks for all the photographs!

Looks and sounds really lovely. I have similar fantasies about living in the country!

It was great reading this post of your outing to the Countryside. I had a good giggle, you on the one end fantasying about the countryside and your hubby complaining on the other. Lily is growing nicely, the last time I saw her at Caroline's Baby shower she was crawling at that stage. At the time she look allot like your mom, but now she seems to look more like her dad.
