when a man is tired of London
Last week we had such a lovely day out. Its was national independent record day (I know..weird) and my husband is a music fanatic. there are a few very famous independent record stores in Soho apparently., sister ray records being the one Kristian wanted to visit,so we got on the train bright and early for a wander.
we took salted cashews as a snack. those things are fatal for me . I ate so many and forgot to bring the water. was so thirsty by the time we got to Charing Cross.
We stopped for a latte (me) , a mint tea (healthy husband) and an apple juice (small child drink) it was a quirky little coffee place in Soho called the flat white. We even saw that mildly famous Indian man there. I of course have no idea what his name is. Hardeep I think. Also unless you live here you probably would not recognise him anyhow. My little obsession with minor celebrities continues..
Whilst Kristian browsed through sister ray records , Lily and I walked down the street taking in a vintage clothing store filled with all sorts of lovelies , from Vivienne Westwood shoes to cute little dresses. A bit further down the road I came across this amazing fabric shop (above, the cloth house) I have recently inherited Kristian nans old pfaff sewing machine ands once its all serviced I plan to sew again. This shop had the most unbelievable fabrics. You know when you go into a shop and you don't know where to look next. you just sort of run around oooing and aahhhing.

We then wandered back to meet Kristian where Lily decided to share her robotic dancing with us all. She loves dancing and music. I know all children do but she really has a thing for it. she dances to everything. This week I am planning to take my camera to her diddi dance class and i will share all the cuteness that erupts there. She is going to be starting ballet classes soon at her diddi dance teachers recommendation. apparently she has a good line and natural dance movement.
the streets of London were bustling even more than usual due to the balmy weather and we had such a wonderful time just wandering and exploring. we got ourselves some take away sushi (parents) and a salmon sandwich from Pret (small child's favorite) and found a lovely sunny square to eat them in.
Just off carnaby street we found this little shopping place with lovely cafes and interesting shops.

then of course finished off the day with the best ice cream in London. Look I don't know if its the best , but its up there I assure you. I had pistachio and lost the feeling in my legs for minutes. wondrous stuff. Theres always something new to see in London...

new hair
This is Moi with my lovely friend Sandi at dinner club. My monthly girly night that involves food and wine in copious amounts. I cut my my hair last week into this bob. I am happy with it bar this awful fringe envy I have. I really , really want a fringe. i have for ages. I may just throw caution to the wind one of these days.
We had a fabulous evening at this Italian restaurant. I am sure gourmet goddesses will be updated soon. The host and owner , Stefano, was just so funny and even told me I could not have Parmesan on my prawn pasta. (noh..it ruin the taste you cannot have )

a life in pictures
10 things about me
I saw the princess and the frog today with Kristian and Lily. Old fashioned disney animation. Of course in true disney fashion , beings died. The whole time I was thinking. please don't ask me about dying. please don't ask me about dying. she didn't ask me about dying but she enjoyed it thoroughly , as did I.
I am cooking a lamb for the first time in my life tomorrow and you know I think I may be vegetarian. I took ages choosing one that did not make me feel queasy. Don't worry its all free range , very expensive sort of lamb. I think I am looking forward to the choccie eggs more. yum.
less than 2 months till I head out to Cape Town again. So much to look forward to there.
lily is into role playing in a big way. either shes the teacher and i am the little girl, or shes the doctor and I am the patient with a sore tummy and cough, or shes the waitress and I am the customer who orders randomly from a wooden board she has got and then eat anything she brings me WITHOUT complaint. Once I pretended to complain and was chucked out of the establishment.
Planning a trip to spitalfields before i leave for cape town. Its my mission for this year to go to north and west London more and explore. Hampstead heath (hope I don't see George Micheal) is also up there with things to do. On one of those days I will be going to lemonia., this amazing Greek restaurant in primrose hill. I went for our friend , Jason's birthday a few years ago and I can remember the taste of that delicious food.
I am looking for a quinoa recipe if anyone has one. I had it a while ago but was unimpressed , however its so good for you so I want to try again
waterfall cardigans are my new favorite thing. admittedly I only have 1 but i have my eye on 1 or 2 more. they are so handy and look so lovely on. I have also started wearing leggings. They are so comfortable and worn correctly they look very flattering and lovely. FYI some legging wearing people..Long flowing tops are the look. not short tight ones .
Over the rainbow has started on the telly. Andrew Lloyd webbers "casting" for a Dorothy for the wizard of oz. i love it already. if i were a man I would be gay.
I am turning 33 next month. Its got to be a good year. two 3's! i have a feeling a lot will happen to me in my 33rd year. i was playing with my tarot cards a few nights ago and got some interesting things coming up. How I wish I could have my friend Caroline do a reading for me.
its still tulip season and you know how I love the tulips. I will post some photos of the tulips i got for Easter and you can all share in the pretty joy of them.
