in memory of

Kristian's Grandad, great grandad John, who passed away yesterday just 17 months after his beloved wife Joan. What an amazing man he was. At times stubborn as a mule as his family would attest to but such a gentleman. We saw him a month or so ago to have lunch and he arrived in his suit and tie as he usually does. He drove his much loved Rover until the day he died.
My absolute best memory of him was when he got his new car ..a rover of course, and there was a silver badge on the one side of the boot. He was unhappy with the lack of symmetry so he set about searching for a badge to even things out.
His daughter and Kristian's mum , Michele told us you will not believe what he has got and upon arriving at his house one day we saw a silver playboy bunny badge glued to back of 84 year old mans car in Bournemouth!. he was completely unaware of the playboy bunny logo of course. he just liked it!
He was born in London and lived his youth there before going to Bournemouth with Joan and his 3 children. He fought in world war 2 and he was so fascinating. the stories he had to tell were just riveting.
I will miss the times we go out for lunch together , but for Kristian he has lost his father figure.
we will always remember and love you John

There are no words to express how sorry we are that John has passed away. One can just be thankful I suppose that he reached such a good age and went relatively quickly without much suffering. I just said to Dad today that he is the only father figure Kristian had growing up and I know he will be sorely missed by you all. Love and hugs Mum and of course Dad and Andrew xxxxx

It will be a sad day when the last of the collar and tie generation passes. My condolences to you all. However, not to burst your bubble but I'm pretty sure he knew full well what that little bunny was. His smiling face on the photo seems to be full of fun.

Louise made me laugh as she put into words what I thought .... you don't live through a war and in England without knowing something about Hugh Hefner! Maybe he just did not want Joan to know as he has a real twinkle in he eyes...lol xxx

Sorry for catching up so late - I am sure Kristian is thankful that you did this post. When I look at this picture, I can totally see the resemblance in a way between them and also what kindred spirits they were. My heart breaks for my friend. Ron xx
