welcome to 2008

a very happy new year to everyone. I hope its going to be a good year for everyone full of fun, laughter and good things.
Already mine is looking good. I am feeling a lot better than yesterday so I think I am on the mend finally, and, after being very down after deciding I could not afford to come home in March, my fabulous parents have wheeled , dealed and sacrificed much to pay for Lily and I to come to Cape Town for 2 weeks in March.

I am over the moon as a whole year of them missing out on Lily was just heartbreaking. I have a pregnant friend as well and I need to see that bump and be there for some of it. I just want everyone to see Lily and for her to meet everyone again. She has her little friend Amy to meet properly as well , as do I.

YAY!!!!!

I have a very exciting year ahead of me as I am heading towards a much anticipated wedding on the 16 August. I am just so excited that it is finally happening for us. We have booked the most beautiful venue, Langverwagt, to have the ceremony and reception at. Its quite small and intimate which is just how I like it. We are only having a smallish wedding as i really want to know and love everyone who is invited and I want to spend time with them all on the day. Finances have also dictated that it be fairly small...oh to win the lottery.

I have chosen a fabulous menu for the guests and hope to have some great dancing as well.

I am sure as the year goes on you will be updated and then when you are at the wedding you will have a strange sense of deja vu.

Have any of you ever been first footed. Its something I want to do as my nana always did it. She was Scottish and its a Scots tradition to first foot on hogmanay. The custom dictates that the first person to cross the threshold of your home in the new year brings the luck for the year. Said person should carry some coal for the fire, whiskey, bread or cakes and a coin. bringing you all you need for the new year.

most excitingly the first footer needs to be a tall , dark stranger

theres a tradition I could get right in to..........................

Gorgeous, gorgeous!! It's going to be stunning and people do just have to understand that with weddings you can't just invite everyone you know. It's too expensive.

My grandfather was also Scottish and our tradition was always that my dad would first foot them way back when. I agree though - a tall, dark stranger knocking on my door might be fun...

Thrilled to hear that you'll be coming out in March, I'm sure your folks are also looking forward to spending some extra time with their two special girls. Can't wait to see Lily again!
