2007!!

Hi everyone

Well we have left the year that Lily was born and have entered 2007. I am sure it will be one full of surprises. Lily is changing so much every day that I anticipate it all to be very exciting.

Lily had a lovely first christmas at her nana Micheles house. She settled there very well and even slept in her own little room with her mummy straining to hear her!! i just could not get used to not hearing her breathe so my sleeping was awful.

Lily is now rolling from her tummy to her back as she does not like being on her tummy so rolls over but going the other way is not an option at the moment. she is still pulling herself into a standing position and would do it the whole day long if she had the chance.

She has been delightful laughing at everthing. Yesterday she was laughing at me chopping onions. she is such a happy soul. we did have a few people round for dinner yesterday and she cried the whole time. To be fair she was tired and then all the new people and voices sent her into a wobbly.

On the food front she is having a load of veggies and fruit now. I have tried her on butternut, sweet potato , carrot, pear banana, and apple she seems to like it all and I have her on 2 meals a day now. Its all a bit confusing but I am quite pleased and thrilled that she loves the food i make for her. she has had a few jars but has seemed to love my food more and polishes it off. Must say it makes for better nappies as well ( nuff said!!!)

We are so excited now as we leave on wednesday to visit all our family and special friends in Cape Town. I know she will not kno but I am excited to show her Cape Town. I love where I am from and i want to show her my mountain and the sea and all the sights. i am even going to let her have a paddle in the sea. The only down side is that her daddy is very hearsore at saying goodbye to his little girl for 3 weeks and i feel dreadful as well but I am sure if he keeps busy it will fly and we have a brand new phone card to chat every day

holiay news when i am back until then all our england family and friends keep warm and cosy and see you next month and all our SA ones SEE YOU IN 4 SLEEPS!!!!!

CHRISTMAS IS COMING!!!!

Hello all

well here we are on the verge of Lilys first christmas and our long awaited trip to Cape Town YIPPEEEE!!!

Lily is now 18 weeks old . well she was yesterday. We went out to a pub lunch with some friends in wandsworth. I think Lily takes after me as a child as she is so shy and does not want to go to anyone besides Sandy who she was alright with but she just distracts her and takes her off to see things. I reckon after her trip home she may be cured.

she is still having her baby rice once a day and gets so excited when I bring her little purple bowl out. She gobbles it all up. In preparation for when I want to give her some veg and fruit purees I have got a steamer and hand blender and made her some sweet potato and carrot. It made so little though so i have learnt to use more! Oh well you live and learn. so now I just have to make the pear and apple ones and we will be there. Besides actually feeding her the stuff.

On the developmental front she is wanting to be pulled up into a standing position and sitting position all the time. she is quite tiring. When she is sitting she will sit alone for a few seconds and then fall over. We are still waiting for her to roll but keeping a close eye on her in case of accidents. she is grabbing her toys and her feet now as well. Her toys are finally of interest to her and you can distract her with them :)

She is now in the big bath as well with a support thing and has started splashing much better. I come out looking like a drowned rat

So we just have this week here in lovely Blackheath and then we are off to Verwood in Dorset to Kristians mum for a week and a bit for Christmas. It seems to be getting colder this week. The temp has dropped so perhaps a white christmas!

Hope you all have a lovely christmas

Much love

4 months!!

Hello all

Lily is now 4 months old . she is absolutely wonderful and changing every day. Its been a great month as we started swimming which tires her out no end. Its so funny as we swim . Well I hold her under her arms but she kicks her feet like mad. i cant get her to really laugh though its as though she is really concentrating. i dunked her under the water on friday but it did not go well. In fact i am surprised she still likes water as when we got home I gave her a bath in the big bath to wash off the pool water and it was slippy and she slipped onto her side that did not go down well either!!

Anyhow back at the pool as soon as we get out I dress her and myself and then have some tea and feed her. its takes all her energy to eat and then she is fast asleep.

we put up our christmas tree today which was lovely and Lily loved all the lights. I will post a piccie of her looking at them. we had a lovely walk today into Blackheath Village and she was all cosy in her hat and sleeping bag. she loves it. never slept a wink though. I ask all the other new mums I meet. how much sleep do you get in the day. All more than our Little Lily!!

I am so looking forward to our trip home to cape Town. Lily has her passport now so is all ready to travel. cant wait to have her meet all her new friends and to see her old ones. she has had a few Capetonian visitors. The greens and then Gavs mum Carol. we went shopping and she was really good except the trip home where she screamed ( sorry carol) this is a trick that she has learnt and its awful. shes good as gold all the way there but put her in the car to come home and she crys the whole way.

I have my baby rice at the ready to start weaning. Nana Michele bought her a bowl and the rice. we tried some and she sort of had it in her mouth . her feeding has been so good since that I dont think she needs it just yet. i am getting myself sorted to make all my organic veggie and fruit purees. I ope she likes them.
The oictures are Lily with her new passport and the one in her chair is her looking a the lights on the tree

love to all

laughing for us etc

3 months already!!

Well can you believe 3 months have passed already and our little Lily is soooo cute. I cant wait to come to cape Town to show her off to everyone.
We have all been very busy. Lilys head control is amazing now ( hence the photo) she loves lying on her tummy looking around and she chats away the whole time. She is quite noisy actually.
This week has been great. Lily and I went swimming for the first time with another mummy and baby ( Leigh and Aimee) She loved the water. I got her a little all in one pink cossie. she was all over the place in the water. She does not seem to mind if you are quite rough with her in the water, in fact it produces more smiles.

The most exciting thing we did was to go to Haarrods on Friday to meet Father Christmas. He is such a lovely father christmas and Lily got a book from him and Mummy and daddy wished for a full nights sleep which he said he could arrange. We got a lovely photo. I sat with Lily as I thought she would be scared of him as she is not liking anyone to hold her at the moment bar Kristian and me but she just looked at him and carried on as usual.

Enjoy the new photos
love to all

Uncle Andrew and Lily

my daddy tells me scary stories at bed time

nearly 3 months

Hello all
As Lily speeds along to the 3 month mark I just thought I would update you all on her progress as it has been quite remarkable of late. We had our first laugh out of her last Tuesday. Andrew was taking a video of her so I was trying extra hard to make her smile her huge smile which I love and all of a sudden a huge laugh came out. We were all so excited even her.
Since then she has repeated it twice. She really is so smiley now. We have been visiting Gav and Cath today and she smiled and talked to Cathfor ages.

She is starting to kick her little legs now and all her toys are really attracting her attention. She loves lying in her playpen knocking her little teddy mobile that Steven and Veronica bought her.

thats it for now but will post again very soon with more news

hugs

this is my cute face

look at me growing

Hello all
Lily is an absolute joy at the moment, we are loving playing with her and she loves chatting away to us. Her smiles are even bigger now and it seems as though each day she learns something new. She has discovered her hands and spends long periods of time staring at them and then trying to eat them.

She had her first mini holiday over the weekend as we went to Kristians mum near Bournemouth. She was a star in the car and its quite a journey but when we arrived it was quite late and she was not a happy girl, but she got better and even met her great grandfather and mother. She however slept though that. All the fresh air me thinks.

We also had a break over the weekend as lilys nana michele did all her night feeds and she looked after her for most of Saturday so we went to the movies and for dinner. I felt so bad but it was good to have some time to ourselves. I missed her so much though.

Lily is still sleeping from 7 till 4 4;30 so I decided to do a little feed hardly waking her at 10;30 in the hope she would sleep through . What a cruel mummy I am. But the bloody child still wakes at the same time even with the extra food so I am abandoning it tonight and will have to wait for her to do it herself. Seems as though she does things at her own pace anyway.

She had her first injection yesterday. Her BCG for TB. It was awful as the nurse made a mistake and had to do it again. I took Kristian for support and all he could say was. " shes crying real tears!!" I think he was worse than me.

Lily and I are still going to our baby group and we have 2 friends from there that we met on monday for coffee. Its so funny as the babies are fascinated with each other.

Thats it, I am signing off ow for a well earned cup of tea
big hugs
Wendy

2 months!!

Hi All
well can you believe our beautiful girl is 2 months now. She has changed so much. If I think back to 4 weeks ago you just cannot believe it. She gurgles and talks now and smiles so much. She loves us talking to her.
Her Uncle Andrew is visiting and she loves him although she gets such a fright when he laughs t
, the other day she spat her bottle right out!!

We have had a few problems at night with her but on the whole she is very good. She loves going out and about with us and looks about all the time. She still battles to fall asleep in the pram but what can you do. i just carry on trying. everyone said to me that if you could get through the first 6 weeks then things get better and I must say they are right, I think its because they start to interact with you and it is so rewarding as they are sooooo cute.
We have our first longer trip with her over the weekend. We are visiting Kristians mum so Lily will have a grandmother to look after her for the weekend. I do hope she takes well to her different environment but I suppose if she learns now she will be a seasoned traveller. She must as she is coming to Cape Town in 3 months.

Lily has her first innoculations on monday which I am dreading. They run a bit of a temp apparently and are a bit unwell. BOO HOO!!!

Love to you all

finally captured a smile

Hello all

Lily has been a little angel over the past few days. She is smiling away to everyone. and this morning I finally captured one when she was playing on the floor.
Lily is now sleeping in her big cot in her sleeping bag and sleeping well in there. I am only waking once to feed her in the night now but her wake up time is 6:3o. My mum tells me to get used to it as thats when kiddies wake up. Since I have accepted it its been fine. I must be brutally honest and say I cannot wait until she is sleeping through the night. This sleep thing is awful.
saying that the other night she only woke at 5 in the morning and I was up at 4 worrying why she had not woken and I felt like a cuddle as well!!!

Well heres the photo of the smile

can you get that bloody thing out of my face!!

Lily being burped by her daddy

there is light at the end of the tunnel

Well its been a week and a bit of hell. lilys colic became a whole day affair and I had read all these books about making them sleep and when and routine!!! I was going mad so uncertain if everything and of course Lily was hating it.
Then lilys nanny michele came down and just let lily do what she wanted and she was amazing. My little leo likes things her own way/ We also got some amazing stuff we put on her bottles which has settled her colic.
So now we are on the lily humble routine and i am just following her lead which is more me anyway. Its been the best thing as we are playing and she sits in hr little bouncy chair and looks around. its been such a great day with her today. Heres hoping the night will be as well as she slepy last night from 8 till 4 am in the morning (amazing)

Lilys smiling a lot more and a bit of cooing and funny noises.
Thats it from us
Love to all
